Les devoirs (Curriculum practice)

Week of September 12th to 16th
Bonjour les parents!

Bravo! to everyone for having made it through their first week of Grade One French Immersion.  At school, your child will have had a full day of learning and he/she will have worked very hard.  During the evening, your child will probably arrive home tired.  This is why homework will be kept to a minimum.  Each Monday, your child will receive curriculum practice for the week. Be sure to check your email beginning next week, as we will no longer be sending home paper copies. Homework will involve practicing and sharing with you what we have learned in class.  Your child should spend no more than 10 minutes on his/her homework each night (Monday to Thursday).  There will be no curriculum practice given on weekends.

         For homework this week:
·      Your child should practise singing and reading the song “Bonjour mes amis!”.
·      Your child should practise reading and printing his/her Mots de la semaine.  He/she can print them in their agenda under Words of the Week.
·      Your child should practise counting from 1 to 10 in French.  He/she should count different objects around the house.
·      Your child should practise reading and writing the French number words.

Every week, we also ask that you continue to read daily in English with your child.  Reading in English will support your child’s ability to develop his/her reading skills in French.

Please let us know if completing weekly homework becomes difficult.  You don’t need to know the French language yourself to help support your child.  Let him/her be your teacher and have fun learning together!

Looking forward to seeing you at our Open House on September 13th.
*N.B. Thank you to those who have returned your email address. Please send in your email ASAP if you have not done so. Merci J

A bientôt (See you soon)!
